PAUL JEANES

Paul has been our musical director since 2017. He was born and raised in Somerset, where he began his musical training on the organ at the age of 13. He studied conducting, composition, organ and piano at Trinity College of Music and the Royal College of Music and holds several awards including the Chappell Composition Prize, the Harold Clarke Prize for Accomaniment and the Rotary Club of St Marylebone

Award for musicianship.

As a conductor, Paul has performed numerous operas and shows including Remix for the Baylis Programme at English National Opera; The Albatross, an opera by Diana Burrell for Trinity College of Music; Iolanthe and Princess Ida for Imperial Operatic; Anything Goes and Guys & Dolls for University of London Opera. He has previously been musical director of Kennet Opera, Norwood Green Choral Society, Eastcote

Choral Society and the Anselm Singers. As an arranger, he has orchestrated music

for several television and films projects, and has recorded at some of London’s most prestigious studios including Air, Hoxa HQ, and Abbey Road.

Paul is a highly accomplished organist, pianist and accompanist. He performs regularly with tenor Stephen Anthony Brown, and flautist Nina Robertson, in recitals across the UK and Europe and has performed in master classes with Dame Sarah Walker and Thomas Allen CBE. He also has several radio and television broadcasts to his credit

and is a published composer. Paul has a strong commitment to performing the music

of neglected British composers.

Paul is married to Marianne and has three daughters. When not immersed in music, he is to be found pottering in his garden, cycling in the Hertfordshire countryside, or playing nursery rhymes to his newly-arrived granddaughter.
