Gary Peacock
Gary was the Musical Director of Amici Chamber
Choir for 14 years, from 1993 until this concert, after which he moved
on to concentrate on his other musical activities. During his time with
the Amici, he conducted more than 50 concerts.Gary studied at
Birmingham University and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama,
where he trained as a pianist, winning several prizes and two national
competitions. He works chiefly as a vocal coach and accompanist, and
has a very wide performing experience both in this country and abroad,
having worked with Music Theatre London, Opera 80, Birmingham Touring
Opera and the European Chamber Orchestra. He has also broadcast for the
BBC and has made two recordings. In 1994 he accompanied Montserrat
Caballé in Christmas concerts in London.s Royal Albert Hall and in
Birmingham Symphony Hall.
Gary is director of music at the Church of the Holy
Innocents, Hammersmith. He works in the singing department at LAMDA
(London Academy of Music & Dramatic Arts), and will be conducting the
next musical. He also works regularly with West London Opera: the
group.s next production is L.Elise d.Amore in May 2008. In summer 2005
and again in early 2006, he went to South Korea to take part in running
workshops for young people in Seoul.
Tansy Castledine
Tansy began her musical studies as the Parry Wood
Organ Scholar at Exeter College, Oxford before gaining an MMus in
Choral Direction and Church Music at the Royal Academy of Music where
she won all the major prizes for Choral Direction. Following this, she
was appointed Director of the London City University Chamber Choir and
Director of Music at Belmont, Mill Hill Prep School.Tansy is
currently Director of Music and Organist at St Paul.s Church, Mill
Hill, Director of Music at St George.s College, Weybridge and Director
of the Intermediate Choir for Finchley Children.s Music Group. She
regularly directs day and residential courses for the Royal School of
Church Music in Britain and is an Examiner for their national singing
awards. Tansy has recorded on the Guild and Priory Labels and is also
an Associate of the Royal College of Organists.
David Bray
David studied composition, piano, organ and
conducting at the Royal College of Music, London.After a spell as
composer-in-residence at St Edmund.s School, Canterbury, he worked for
the Royal National Institute for the Blind, editing and transcribing
music into Braille.In 1995, he joined Trinity College London, the
international examinations board, where he became Managing Editor.In
2001, he moved to city law firm, Berrymans Lace Mawer as Publications
Manager.
David is currently Head of Publishing for music
publishers Boosey & Hawkes.He specialises in vocal coaching and
musicianship skills, has a considerable reputation for choral training,
and works regularly with choirs and vocal soloists.From 1988 to 1995
he was a member of the Musicianship faculty at the Royal College of
Music Junior Department.He conducted the BBC Club Singers for several
years before joining the Meistersingers in 2001. Recent compositions
have included works for the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival
and commissions for the Vasari Singers, BBC Club Singers, Stephen
Cleobury (King.s College Cambridge), and St Edmund.s School,
Canterbury.
Jeremy Haneman
Jeremy graduated with merit from the Sydney
Conservatory of Music in 19993 where he studied piano, conducting and
education. He has been vocal coach and accompanist for many opera,
cabaret and classical singers in Australia, Britain and the USA.
He is currently Conductor of two London - based
choirs: Morley College Choir and Chorus Mundi. He is also Musical
Director of the Pleasure for Pleasure Theatre Company for whom he has
composed the music for many plays at the Royal Academy, the National
Gallery, the New End Theatre, on tour in Florence and Rome and other
theatres across London.
Jeremy is chairman of the charity Hafla which
organises cultural events that bring together Jews and Muslims and is
organising a major London Middle Eastern cultural Festival for 2008/9.
Between 1996 and 2001, Jeremy was the Musical
Director of the London Gay Men's Chorus and conducted the choir in
front of the Queen and Prime Minister at the opening of the Millennium
Dome on New Year's Eve 2000.Jeremy has been guest conductor for
several other choirs including Highgate Choral Society, the Esterhazy
Singers and the Can't Sing Choir at Morley College. He has also been
the Musical Director for several charitable concerts at the Royal
Academy of Music featuring a range of Jewish and Arabic classical
musicians.
He has worked with major stars including Dame Cleo
Laine, George Michael, Elton John, Boy George and Latoya Jackson. He
has appeared in several television documentaries and programmes, given
live singing workshops on radio for LBC and he has also appeared as a
guest on the Big Breakfast, Top of the Pops, TFI Friday, the Today Show
on Radio 4, Virgin FM and all the BBC stations as well as featuring in
the Observer, the Times and the Guardian.
Duncan Aspden
Duncan works as a freelance conductor, coach and continuo player.
He is also Director of Music of the City of Oxford Choir, Musical
Director of St. Peter's Singers (West London) and of the Thame
Chamber Choir and is Associate Director of Music at the Church of the
Immaculate Conception, Farm Street, London.
Duncan trained at Cambridge and at the Royal Academy of Music, where
he took their choral conducting course.
