About Us
The choir was founded in 1986, so that a group of enthusiastic singers
could enjoy themselves while performing music to a high standard. There are around
thirty of us in the choir and we are always on the lookout for new singers.
The choir has performed at major London venues and in festivals around the country,
including the International Organ Festival in St. Albans. Many of the solos are
sung by members of the choir.
We perform about six concerts per year at a variety of venues and are always
looking for new and interesting places, indoor or out. Our regular haunts include:
- St. James’, Piccadilly
- Sherborne Abbey, Dorset
- The Gardens of "Shaw’s Corner" (NT)
- St Mary’s, Harrow-on-the-Hill

The Music
The Amici Choir was formed to give the first British performance of C.P.E.
Bach’s St Markus Passion at St James’ Church Piccadilly. We have also
given the first London performance of J.S. Bach’s St Mark Passion.
We have enjoyed singing early English music such as Byrd and Tallis, and
modern music by composers such as Britten, Arvo Part, Gorecki and Taverner. A selection of
past and future
concerts will give you an idea of our range of music, which
comprises both sacred and secular works, from renaissance church music and madrigals to music
of the present day.
